A More Personalised Approach to Hair Loss

Understanding hair loss. Exploring the science. Personalising your care.
Hair loss can affect both men and women at different stages of life. Whether it's gradual thinning, a receding hairline or increased shedding, understanding the underlying cause is an important first step.
At Thrive Collective, we believe that hair health deserves a considered, individualised approach.
Today, we're exploring two developments in hair loss assessment and treatment: TrichoTest genetic testing and Regenera Activa regenerative technology.
TrichoTest: What Can Your Genetics Tell You About Hair Loss?
Not everyone responds to hair loss treatments in the same way.
TrichoTest, developed by Fagron Genomics, is a pharmacogenetic test designed to help healthcare professionals consider genetic factors that may influence responses to certain hair loss treatments.
The test analyses 26 genetic variants associated with biological pathways relevant to hair loss and treatment response.
These include pathways involved in:
Hormonal activity and androgen metabolism
Inflammation
Circulation and follicle function
Vitamin and mineral metabolism
Collagen synthesis and antioxidant activity
The results can provide additional information for clinicians considering treatment options, including topical and oral medications.
Why is this interesting?
Pharmacogenetics is an evolving area of personalised medicine. Genetic information may help inform treatment discussions, although it cannot reliably predict an individual's response or guarantee treatment success.
TrichoTest is intended for adult patients and should be interpreted alongside a medical assessment.
Regenera Activa: Exploring Regenerative Hair Restoration
Regenera Activa is an autologous micrografting technology investigated for certain forms of hair loss, particularly androgenetic alopecia.
The procedure uses a small sample of the patient's own scalp tissue, which is processed into a micrograft suspension and administered to selected areas of the scalp.
The aim is to investigate whether components derived from the patient's own tissue may support the local environment around existing hair follicles.
What does the research suggest?
Early clinical studies have reported improvements in certain hair measurements in selected patients. However, larger controlled studies are needed, and outcomes vary.
Regenera Activa should not be regarded as a guaranteed solution for hair loss or a replacement for established medical treatment.
Suitability, potential benefits, risks and alternatives require assessment by an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.
Understanding the Bigger Picture
Hair thinning and shedding can have several contributing factors, including:
Genetic predisposition
Hormonal changes and menopause
Thyroid disorders
Nutritional deficiencies
Illness, stress and certain medications
Inflammatory or autoimmune scalp conditions
Identifying the type and potential causes of hair loss helps guide appropriate investigation and management.
At Thrive Collective, our approach to hair health begins with understanding the individual, rather than assuming that one treatment is suitable for everyone.
